Memory

Company knowledge
Definition

Memory is the searchable index built from company knowledge so people, skills, and agents can find the right context quickly while the readable source files remain authoritative.

AI memorysearchable memory

Memory is how the system finds the right knowledge quickly.

In ProtobaseOS, memory is built from the company's readable knowledge files. It is useful because it helps people, skills, and agents retrieve the relevant context without manually searching through every page.

But memory is not the source of truth. The source of truth is the approved company knowledge. If the index and the source disagree, the source wins.

Why This Keeps the System Portable

The memory layer can be rebuilt. The company knowledge should remain readable, inspectable, and owned by the company.

That separation matters. It means the business is not trapped inside one search index or one model provider.
